Waters to the Sea
Waters to the Sea is an interactive CD-ROM that explores the rivers of the Upper Mississippi region from the Ice Age up to the present. It features virtual river journeys, multimedia storytelling and fun activities. We offer a lab pack available for teachers to check out, which includes 30 copies of the CD-ROM.
Digital Watershed Atlas
Digital Watershed Atlas is a 4 part CD rich with current and historical maps, aerial photos and narrative about the watershed. It includes content that can be used with a number of existing school curricula. It was developed by Rich and Susan Cairn for the MCWD in 2003. In the illustrated natural and human history you can learn about how the Minnehaha got its name, what the first settlers found, and what caused the flood in February 1966 that spurred the creation of the MCWD. You can download a complete list of the documents in the library and order the four-part compilation that contains the digital historical library of the watershed by contacting the Education Manager. Also, the CD set is available for viewing at Minneapolis Public Libraries in the watershed. Educators who teach students living in the watershed may request a complimentary CD set; non-educators can purchase it for $7.00.
Children's Water Festival
The MCWD is a partner in the metro-wide Children’s Water Festival for 5th graders. See Carver County's website for more information.
